Keramisch Atelier De Steenuil Owl

Keramisch Atelier de Steenuil produced in 50 year lots of vases with drip and bubble glaze, but also with plain, mat and high gloss glaze, florists objects. Later on dishes and cabinet sets, but also (ordered) dinnersets. Mark/backstamp: Little Owl, added Rijswijk later on.

Founded in 1947 by potter Henk Goosen, Kampen. Started with the age of 14 at  (Willem) Brouwer’s Pottery Factory te Leiderdorp, next in Rijswijk at Pottery de Zeven vensters, which went bankrupt in 1949. Goosen continued as an independant potter, worked together with the firm (Willem Hendrik) Gispen. In 1970 moved to Rijswijk. All Goosen's handcrafted pottery work (1924-1997) was made on the potterswheel. Source: C.Souwer, Rotterdam
